Hey parents
Welcome to this week’s Little Investors story!
Today’s story is about learning to accept that we can’t always have everything. Sometimes, we have to choose what we need most.

Max chooses the ball
TOY STORE
Max held Mom’s hand as they walked into the big toy store.
The lights were bright and the shelves were full of colors.
Max’s eyes grew and he whispered; “Wow!”
SHINY STICKERS
Max stopped at a shelf filled with shiny stickers.
There were stars, cars and animals that sparkled in the light.
“Ohh, I really want these!” Max said, reaching out with both hands.
HUNGRY TUMMY
Suddenly Max’s tummy made a loud growl.
“Grrrroowl!” it said and Max laughed while holding his belly.
Mom knelt down and said, “Max, your tummy is hungry. You need food first.”
Max nodded slowly.
BIG BALL
Then Max saw something round and bright.
It was big, red ball sitting on the shelf.
It looked bouncy and fun, and Max clapped his hands with joy.
“Bounce! Bounce! I want this ball too!” he shouted.
COUNTING COINS
Max opened his little coin jar and poured the coins into his hands.
Clink, clink, clink - they made a happy sound.
He counted them slowly. One, two, three, four.
Mom shook her head gently.
“Max, you only have enough coins for one thing.”
CHOOSING WISELY
Max looked at the stickers.
He looked at the ball.
Then he rubbed his hungry belly.
“My tummy needs food,” Max said softly.
“But I also want something that lasts.”
After thinking hard, he put the stickers back.
He chose a small sandwich and the big red ball.
HAPPY MAX
Max sat with Mom and ate his sandwich.
“Mmm, that feels good,” he said with a smile.
Then outside, he bounced his new red ball high into the air.
Boing! Boing! Boing!
He laughed and shouted, “Needs first, then wants!”
